The blade style doesn't draw larger pieces down to be chopped - they finish up floating on top of what's finely mashed at the bottom of the container. And secondly and most importantly, you Can't fill the container all the way to make use of the "14-cup" design as anything that is close enough to liquid will fall between the motor shaft and the inner container lip which ends about 1/2 way up the container, leaking out from the bottom of the container. Just get something besides this item is my only recommendation.
